The Warfare Is Supernatural

In Ephesians 6:12 Paul writes:

"Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."   In other words, it is supernatural and involves spiritual warfare against forces under the control of Satan organised in a hierarchy of importance like a human army.

The War Is Not Between Equals

The war is between two kingdoms  -  of God vs Satan but it is a war that is not between equals. Satan is a created being, created by God as one of the angels round the very Throne of God, who rebelled with a third of the angels and was banished to earth.

The Overall War Has Been Won At Calvary

When Jesus Christ, Messiah and Son of God, died on the Cross at Calvary and three days later rose again from the dead, it sealed his victory over sin, death and Satan.

In one of his visions of the final restoration of God's kingdom-rule for eternity, the old apostle John wrote:

And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. 12 Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!” Revelation 12:10-12

The reality is Christians fight the battle against spiritual enemies from victory, not for victory.
